Welcome to our blog!

The Fund for Transforming Education in Kentucky (The Fund) inspires and scales innovation and excellence in Kentucky’s public schools, resulting in a better future for all of our children. Here on our blog, we share about our work in a more in depth manner. Blog posts are written by staff members, teachers we work with, board members and others.

The Fund believes in unlocking the unique potential of every student by spreading innovative ideas, shining a spotlight on transforming teacher leadership, and driving sustainable change that will increase academic achievement for all students in Kentucky’s public education system.

Thank you for your consideration and visiting our blog. If you share in our vision of an innovative education culture, we welcome the opportunity to partner with you. Please visit our website at www.thefundky.org for more information.

Kentucky Connected Educator Holly Bloodworth

2014 Kentucky Teacher of the Year

  1. In what ways are you a connected educator?
I love connections. I work hard to make connections as I teach, to build new understandings. Every day I try to connect with my students, and connecting with other teachers and professionals is the way I stay current, reflect more deeply and share information.

  1. How does being a connected educator improve practice?
I am always looking for new ideas and resources to improve my practice. Being a connected educator allows me opportunitites to learn from others teaching and doing the same kind of work that I am. It opens avenues for discussion, allows access to things like chats and blogs, makes learning possible at times that meet the
needs of busy professionals.

  1. How does being a connected educator impact you as a professional?
Being connected gives educators a platform to share their voice. It opens doors to new opportunities, and gives teachers a sense of ownership in our collective knowledge. Connecting across my state, the nation, and even the world brings multiple perspectives to the issues educators face.

  1. What advice or resources do you recommend for teachers becoming connected?

There are so many opportunities to connect; it can be overwhelming. Find educators that share some of the same issues, interests, and concerns.
